Heritage Strategy 2023-2028

The City of Greater Geraldton Heritage Strategy covers all aspects of natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage for which the City has direct responsibility or collaborates with other stakeholders upon.

The City is proud to make heritage an important part of its broader mission as a means of enhancing and celebrating its diverse community.  Through this Strategy, the City will seek to enhance its ability to work in partnership with other custodians and heritage organisations. The City recognises the importance of a holistic approach to understanding and managing its valuable heritage resources, whilst undertaking significant growth which is expected to be between 80,000 to 100,000 residents by 2029.

To determine how to achieve the City’s aim of preserving and activating the heritage of our community, a range of community consultations and workshops were held.  The results from these consultations have been incorporated into this Strategy’s Actions and Activities/Measures.
