Mullewa Junior High School Extension Opening by Lorin Cox

On Sunday 22 September 1972 the Mullewa Junior High School officially opened the new extension with an outdoor ceremony followed by a tour and afternoon tea. The official Opening Address was delivered by Mr. J.H. Barton, Deputy Director General of Education. Festivities commenced with performances by the school choir and the recorder band. The ceremony included a speech by Glenise Dudley (girl Captain), a school dedication by Teresa Lynch, an introduction by Mr. E. Whitehurst (President Parents & Citizens Association) and a speech of thanks from Neville Stewart (boy Captain). President of the Mullewa Shire Council Mr. G. Eves presented the Eves Shield for the Inter-faction competition. Additional entertainment added some joviality to proceedings with attendees participating in Folk Dancing, Gymnastics and Calisthenics.

Thankfully one of the attendees at the Opening was Robert Percy Golding who captured the event in the sketch featured.
