Snapshot - Mullewa Show

The 39th Annual Mullewa Agricultural Society Show was grandly opened by Sir David Brand on Saturday 4 September 1972. On the morning of the show, the committee had a slight dilemma with very low numbers of sheep having been entered. Thankfully, a last minute call out to local farmers was answered resulting in approximately 100 entrants. Other show competitions including flower shows, children’s drawings, wool classes etc. carried on as per usual. Robert Percy Golding reported that 70 show entries (not for sheep) were submitted from Spey Side farm resulting in 36 prizes (firsts and seconds).

Historically, show jumping is a popular event and as such had plenty of entrants. This sketch is part of the Robert Percy Golding collection and depicts a show jumping event held at the Mullewa Recreation Ground during the 39th annual show

It would be very interesting to see a photograph of this event. If you happen to have one and would consider donating an electronic copy please contact the Library.
