Locals shine in new GRAG exhibitions

Published on Friday, 6 September 2024 at 10:16:50 AM

Midwest artists will be solely on display at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery for the next few months as two exhibitions launch next week.

The newly launched Mid West Arts Membership program will have its first Membership Exhibition, an open-themed exhibition featuring a diverse collection of mediums, styles, and subject matter from over 40 artists in the Ground Floor Gallery.

In the First Floor Gallery, INTERCO – CODES IN PARALLEL brings together four groups from across the region to explore communication and its various forms through craft as part of the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial.

City of Greater Geraldton Deputy Mayor Natasha Colliver expressed her excitement.

“Having artwork displayed in a professional gallery is a first for many involved in the exhibitions, and will be a great source of pride for our hometown artists,” she said.

“The Mid West Arts Membership program launched a few short months ago and is all about providing opportunity, experience as well as training to local creatives.

“I’m so pleased to see one of our most decorated City facilities show off our local talent for the next few months and encourage everyone to view the Mid West Arts Members Exhibition 2024 and INTERCO – CODES IN PARALLEL.”

Geraldton Regional Art Gallery will launch both exhibitions on Friday 13 September at 6pm. They will be on display to Sunday 17 November.

INTERCO – CODES IN PARALLEL forms part of the IOTA24 Festival, which is supported by Lotterywest. More information about joining the Mid West Arts Program can be viewed here.
